SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Programs - Narrows, VA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of efforts to promote the mental health of the nation. One of its obligations is the supervision of opioid rehab programs, which are centers who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine administered are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation facilities in Narrows are programs that are officially permitted to give out the medicines used in MAT being they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also get ancillary services aside from medication like psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid treatment program can receive initial approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab programs authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehab facility is certified, they need to get re-certified each year or every 3 years depending on the type of certification that was granted.
