SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Programs - New Kent, VA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of health efforts to promote the behavioral health of the United States. One of its duties is the supervision of opioid treatment facilities, which are centers who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine prescribed are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation facilities in New Kent are programs that are officially permitted to dispense the drugs used in MAT as long as they remain certified and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary services in addition to medicine like psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid treatment center can get their initial certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment facilities authorized by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid treatment center is certified, they need to get re-certified each year or every three years contingent upon the type of certification that was given.
