The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of health efforts to promote the mental health of the nation. One of its obligations is the supervision of opioid treatment programs, which are programs that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Drug administered are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent people.
