The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for health efforts to promote the mental health of the U.S.. One of its obligations is the administering of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are programs that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Drug administered are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab programs in Radiant are programs that are officially allowed to distribute the medicines used in MAT being they maintain their certification and always maintain the necessary requirements. An opioid rehabilitation facility can receive basic approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab facilities authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehab program is approved to operate, it must be re-certified each year or every 3 years contingent upon the kind of accreditation that was granted.
