SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Programs - Remington, VA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for health efforts to promote the behavioral health of the nation. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are programs who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medications administered are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab centers in Remington are programs who are legally allowed to distribute the medications used in MAT being they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive auxiliary benefits aside from medicine like psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab facility can get their initial approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment programs accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid treatment facility is approved to operate, it must be re-certified every year or every 3 years contingent upon the type of accreditation that was given.
