SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Programs - Rockville, VA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of efforts to advance the behavioral health of the United States. One of its obligations is the supervision of opioid rehab programs, which are programs who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications administered are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted clients. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment centers in Rockville are programs that are legally permitted to distribute the medications used in MAT being they maintain their certification and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive ancillary services in addition to medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehabilitation facility can receive initial approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab facilities authorized by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehab center is certified, it must be re-certified each year or every 3 years contingent upon the type of certification that was given.
