SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Centers - Round Hill, VA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of health efforts to promote the mental health of the United States. One of its obligations is the oversight of opioid treatment programs, which are programs who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation facilities in Round Hill are programs who are legally allowed to distribute the medications used in MAT being they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary benefits in addition to medication such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid treatment center can receive basic certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment programs authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation facility is certified, they need to get re-certified every year or every 3 years depending on the type of certification it has been given.
