SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Centers - State Farm, VA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for health efforts to promote the behavioral health of the U.S.. One of its obligations is the oversight of opioid rehab programs, which are programs who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medications administered are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment programs in State Farm are programs which are legally allowed to distribute the medications used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also get ancillary benefits aside from medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehabilitation program can get their basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab facilities accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehabilitation program is approved to operate, they need to get re-certified every year or every three years contingent upon the kind of accreditation it has been given.
