SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Facilities - Sutherland, VA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to advance the mental health of the United States. One of its duties is the administering of opioid rehab programs, which are programs who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medications prescribed are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent people. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment centers in Sutherland are programs which are officially allowed to give out the medicines used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive auxiliary benefits aside from medicine such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab center can get their initial certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation facilities authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehabilitation program is certified, they need to get re-certified every year or every three years depending on the type of certification it has been granted.
