There are recovery programs offered in or near Sutherlin that cater to both methadone and buprenorphine clients only, drugs that are used in what is called opioid maintenance therapy. Methadone and buprenorphine clients are on these medications daily so they don't experience cravings, withdrawal, etc. but ideally at a dose which isn't also making them feel euphoria. Euphoria can be experienced at at higher dosages, more so with methadone than buprenorphine. At programs that treat methadone and buprenorphine clients only, actual rehabilitation activities and therapies are limited beyond managing the medication and the main treatment objective is to address the physical symptoms of their dependence. Some centers do deliver a limited amount of counseling and group therapy as auxiliary services, and it is recommended and encouraged.
