Regular out-patient recovery is usually a less expensive choice to more intensive outpatient options or inpatient treatment, and is the lowest intensity of formal alcohol or drug treatment available in Union Hall. Some people are attending rehab for the first time and have chosen regular outpatient because that is all they can afford and commitment to time wise and scheduling because of work, school or other obligations. For many, regular outpatient is a downgrade from treatment in a more intensive outpatient program like a partial hospitalization or inpatient program.
Regular outpatient rehab services usually involve individual and group counseling services occurring once or twice a week. Programs which offer a wider range of services may include counseling (CBT) to help with relapse prevention and dual diagnosis services to help respond to co-occurring addiction and mental health issues. The length of time a client stays involved in treatment can change from client to client, and a person's progress can be assessed from time to time and more treatment can be suggested based on these findings.
In many situations, a regular outpatient recovery program may be insufficient in intensity for an individual who is dealing with a severe alcohol and drug issue and has never experienced treatment before or has fallen off the wagon after previous outpatient rehab.
