Medicare is a federal program that helps pay for health care for individuals living in the U.S. who are either disabled or 65 and older. For individuals who do have Medicare and need substance abuse treatment in Washington, this program will cover certain rehabilitation programs and recovery services. Medicare consists of different "Parts", with Parts A-D covering different types of care.

People who have Part C may have more options available to them, but out-of-pocket costs and coverage is different and may be more expensive.

Part D (Prescription Insurance) Medicare Part D covers substance abuse related medications. Including medications used for drug and alcohol withdrawal as well as those used for maintenance therapy such as methadone or buprenorphine.
