SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Facilities - Water View, VA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to advance the behavioral health of the United States. One of its obligations is the oversight of opioid rehab facilities, which are programs which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medications given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation programs in Water View are programs that are legally permitted to give out the medicines used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive ancillary services in addition to medication like counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehabilitation center can receive basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation programs authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehab facility is certified, they need to get re-certified every year or every 3 years depending on the type of certification that was granted.
