SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Programs - West Augusta, VA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of health efforts to promote the mental health of the United States. One of its obligations is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are programs that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine given are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab facilities in West Augusta are programs who are legally permitted to dispense the medicines used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive ancillary services in addition to medicine like psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab program can receive initial approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab programs authorized by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehab facility is approved to operate, it must be re-certified every year or every three years depending on the kind of accreditation that was given.
