SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Programs - East Burke, VT.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of health efforts to promote the mental health of the United States. One of its duties is the oversight of opioid rehab programs, which are programs who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications administered are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment facilities in East Burke are programs which are legally allowed to give out the medicines used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary services in addition to medicine like counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehabilitation program can get their basic certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment programs authorized by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation center is approved to operate, they need to get re-certified each year or every 3 years contingent upon the type of certification it has been given.
