The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for health efforts to promote the mental health of the United States. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid treatment programs, which are programs which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medications administered are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted people.
