Medicare is a federal health insurance program which helps pay for medical healthcare services for people living in the Unites States who are either disabled or 65 and older. Medicare consists of different "Parts", with Parts A-D covering different kinds of treatment.

Individuals who have Part C may have more insurance benefits available to them, but out-of-pocket costs and coverage is different and may be more expensive.

Part D (Prescription Insurance) Medicare Part D pays for substance abuse related medications. Including medications associated with treating drug and alcohol withdrawal and those used for maintenance therapy such as methadone or buprenorphine.
