SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Centers - Jamaica, VT.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the U.S.. One of its responsibilities is the administering of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are programs which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medicine prescribed are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment programs in Jamaica are programs that are officially permitted to give out the medications used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also get ancillary services aside from medication like counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehabilitation facility can receive basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation facilities authorized by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation facility is certified, they need to get re-certified every year or every 3 years depending on the type of accreditation that was given.
