The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation. One of its responsibilities is the administering of opioid treatment programs, which are programs that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications administered are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted individuals.
