SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Centers - New Haven, VT.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to promote the mental health of the U.S.. One of its duties is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are centers that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine given are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation centers in New Haven are programs that are officially permitted to give out the medications used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive auxiliary benefits aside from medication like counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehabilitation program can receive initial certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment facilities accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid treatment program is approved to operate, they need to get re-certified each year or every three years contingent upon the kind of certification that was given.
