SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Programs - Pawlet, VT.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of health efforts to advance the mental health of the nation. One of its responsibilities is the oversight of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are programs which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications given are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab facilities in Pawlet are programs who are legally allowed to distribute the medications used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive auxiliary services in addition to medicine like psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehabilitation facility can get their basic certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment facilities authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation center is certified, they need to get re-certified each year or every three years contingent upon the type of accreditation that was granted.
