Medicare is a federal program which helps pay for health benefits for people living in the Unites States who are either disabled or 65 years of age or older. Individuals who have Part C can have more insurance benefits available to them, but out-of-pocket costs and coverage is different and may be more expensive.

Part D (Prescription Insurance) Medicare Part D covers substance abuse related medications. Including medications associated with treating withdrawal symptoms during detoxification as well as medications used for maintenance therapy such as methadone or buprenorphine.
