It is also taken on a daily basis, and costs around $450 monthly. Naltrexone is another med used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned here it is an opioid blocker and isn't an opioid. A person has the choice to take this medication as a monthly shot, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents someone from getting high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 per month.
