SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Centers - West Townshend, VT.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of efforts to promote the behavioral health of the nation. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid rehab facilities, which are centers who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Drug given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted people. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment programs in West Townshend are programs which are legally permitted to distribute the drugs used in MAT as long as they remain certified and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also get ancillary benefits aside from medicine such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid treatment center can get their basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment facilities accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehab center is certified, it must be re-certified every year or every 3 years depending on the kind of accreditation it has been given.
