SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Programs - Woodbury, VT.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the United States. One of its obligations is the administering of opioid rehab programs, which are programs who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medications given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation programs in Woodbury are programs which are legally permitted to give out the medicines used in MAT being they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive auxiliary services aside from medication such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid treatment center can receive basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab programs accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid treatment program is approved to operate, they need to get re-certified every year or every three years depending on the type of accreditation it has been given.
