The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation. One of its responsibilities is the oversight of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are programs that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications administered are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted individuals.
