SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Programs - Yakima, WA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of health efforts to promote the mental health of the nation. One of its obligations is the supervision of opioid rehab programs, which are programs who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications given are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab programs in Yakima are programs which are legally allowed to distribute the medicines used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also get auxiliary benefits aside from medicine like psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab center can get their basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment programs authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid treatment facility is certified, it must be re-certified every year or every three years contingent upon the type of accreditation that was granted.
