SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Facilities - Augusta, WI.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of efforts to promote the mental health of the U.S.. One of its obligations is the administering of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are programs who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications given are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment facilities in Augusta are programs who are officially permitted to dispense the medicines used in MAT as long as they remain certified and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive auxiliary benefits in addition to medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid treatment program can receive basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment facilities accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehabilitation program is approved to operate, they need to get re-certified each year or every three years depending on the type of accreditation that was granted.
