Naltrexone is an additional medication used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs aforementioned it's an opioid blocker and isn't an opioid. A person has the choice to take this medication as a monthly injection, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents an individual from experience being high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 monthly.
