The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of health efforts to promote the mental health of the nation. One of its duties is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are centers which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medicine administered are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent individuals.
