The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of efforts to promote the behavioral health of the U.S.. One of its duties is the oversight of opioid treatment facilities, which are programs which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine administered are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent clients.
