Alcohol and drug abuse programs for Military Vets are essential for the mental health and overall stability of Vets of all branches of the armed forces. Because alcohol and drug abuse and other mental health disorders are found at above average rates among Vets, it is important that Veterans get the assistance they need because of such high rates of suicide also associated with these disorders among our Vets.
Drug and alcohol abuse programs for Vets in Stevens Point are available from the VA, with services that include programs to handle associated problems such as relationship problems, irritability, disturbed sleep, pain, depression, and/or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) which most commonly trigger addiction disorders among Veterans. Treatment for substance abuse and associated problems among Veterans includes psychotherapies and group and individual therapy that can increase a person's motivation to change. Involvement in other support such as AA and other support groups is encouraged. Medications are also available in some instances to help Military Veterans lessen their drug, alcohol and tobacco use.
