Young adults between the ages of 18 and 24 are offered substance abuse rehabilitation centers developed specifically for this age group. The most beneficial treatment offered to young adults is at an inpatient rehabilitation facility in Bim which provides a wider spectrum of services than outpatient programs. Addiction disorders and co-occurring mental health disorders can be addressed simultaneously in drug treatment programs for young adults which have therapists or psychologists on site to handle co-occurring disorders.
Young adults involved in rehab programs which cater to their age group benefit from having the peer support on hand and the empathy of treatment staff who are typically trained and experienced at treating young adults.
The length of rehabilitation can vary in young adult recovery programs, and this is usually determined based off the individual's improvement throughout the program. The more severe the issue is, the longer it could be recommended that the young adult continues with the program. If outpatient rehab is the only treatment option available, this too should be thorough enough to meet the client's needs. As an example, there are outpatient programs for young adults which only require the client to attend therapy and counseling 1 or 2 times per week, and there are programs which require daily attendance.
