At centers which treat methadone and buprenorphine clients only, actual rehabilitation activities and therapies are generally limited beyond this and the main treatment goal is to handle the withdrawal symptoms and put an end to the illicit drug use. Some programs do deliver a small amount of counseling and therapy as secondary treatment, and it is encouraged.
