Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Facilities - Glen Ferris, WV.

One of the outpatient rehab options for individuals in Glen Ferris who are struggling with opioid abuse and addiction is opioid maintenance therapy. Licensed clinics and doctors are certified to give certain meds to opioid addicted clients, many of which are opioids also and are addiction. In low enough amounts however, the client does not experience high feelings but also doesn't have acute cravings and isn't experiencing opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first medication tried for this reason, but there are a few more choices currently to choose from.

Methadone is an opiate and can be taken at an outpatient medical center licensed to administer the drug, that is taken daily as a pill or liquid. The cost of the med is around one hundred and fifty dolloars a month. Buprenorphine is also an opioid-based med, and is a pill often taken every other day. But different from Methadone which can only be dispensed in highly well-regulated medical centers, Buprenorphine can be prescribed and dispensed in doctor's offices. The monthly cost of buprenorphine is around just under $300 per month for the generic of the med. There is also a version of buprenorphine containing the drug naloxone, which is a drug that blocks the effects of opioids. A person consuming this version of the drug, also known as Suboxone, would find it more difficult to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It is also taken on a daily basis, and costs about $450 a month. Naltrexone is another medication used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications mentioned here it is an opiate blocker and is not an opiate. There is an option to take this medication as a monthly injection, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents someone from experience high feelings from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 a month.
