There are programs offered in or near New Martinsville which service both methadone and buprenorphine clients only, drugs that are administered in what is known as opioid maintenance therapy. At programs that treat methadone and buprenorphine clients only, actual rehabilitation activities and therapies are generally limited beyond this and the main treatment goal is to manage the physical symptoms of their dependence. Some centers do deliver a small amount of counseling and group therapy as secondary services, and this is recommended and encouraged.
