Naltrexone is an additional medication used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned here it is an opioid blocker and is not an opiate. There is an option to take this drug as a monthly shot, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents someone from experience being high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse.
