Young adults within the ages of 18 and 24 are provided drug and alcohol treatment centers built specifically to meet their needs. The most beneficial treatment available for young adults is at an inpatient rehab program in Poca which provides a wider spectrum of services than outpatient facilities. Addiction disorders and co-occurring mental health disorders can be addressed at the same time in drug treatment programs for young adults which have therapists or psychologists on site to treat co-occurring disorders.
Young adults involved in treatment programs which cater to their age group benefit from having the peer support available and the empathy of rehabilitation staff who are usually skilled and experienced at treating these youths.
The length of treatment can vary in young adult rehab facilities, and this is usually dependent on the individual's progression throughout the treatment process. The more progressed the problem is, the longer it will be suggested that the young adult stays in treatment. If outpatient treatment is the only recovery option available, this too should be intensive enough to meet the client's needs. For example, there are outpatient programs for young adults which only require the client to participate in counseling and therapy 1 or 2 times per week, and there are programs which require daily participation.
