There are substance abuse programs offered in or near Warriormine which service both methadone and buprenorphine clients only, medications which are administered in what is known as opioid maintenance therapy. Buprenorphine and methadone clients are on these medications regularly so they don't experience withdrawal symptoms, etc. but hopefully at a dose which isn't at the same time making them feel high. Euphoria occurs at at higher dosages, more significantly with methadone than buprenorphine. At programs which treat methadone and buprenorphine clients only, actual rehabilitation activities and therapies are limited beyond managing the medication and the main treatment goal is to address the physical symptoms of their dependence. Some centers do offer a small amount of counseling and therapy as supplementary treatment, and it is recommended and encouraged.
