Different Types Of Treatment in Emblem, WY.

As you can envision, not every addiction treatment in Emblem is the same. As a matter of fact, each of the facilities you encounter will have their own unique notion about what should constitute quality treatment.

In a similar way, the treatments applied at a facility will mostly depend on the original philosophy the facility is founded upon. These categories, however, are not mutually exclusive. For instance, you might see spiritually-based alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs that also use evidence-based philosophies.

In most situations, you may find that each substance abuse treatment center will emphasize a single philosophy. This is how most of these programs are classified. With that being said, the most common types of alcohol and drug treatment programs include:

1. Evidence-Based Facilities

Evidence-based or Proof-based alcohol and drug treatment programs usually base their program on the science of addiction treatment. As such, they will extend treatment that is often based in psychology as well as ancillary protocols that are based on proven scientific research and is founded on what has been found to work for different types of addicts.

At these centers, the treatment therapies applied tend to change on a regular basis dependent upon the results from the most recent findings in research and science.

2. Religious-Based Facilities

Faith-based addiction treatment centers, on the other hand, are focused on the spiritual and religious aspects of rehab. As a result, most of them rely on the twelve step programs combined with religious practice - such as praying.

The overriding thought in a majority of these centers is that recovery comes from the Lord. In the USA - a largely Christian region - most religious-based centers are Christian. However, there are some substance abuse treatment centers that focus on treating people from other religions.

In many instances, you will find that these organizational treatment facilities are paid for by a specific religious entity - as an example, the Salvation Army has treatment programs. That said, most religious-based rehabs also promote philosophies based on abstinence.

3. Twelve-step Based Rehabs

Most of these centers base their treatment therapies and options on the twelve-step philosophies coupled with the information provided by AA and its various offshoots.

To this end, most all of these centers will require that you engage in meetings, group work, and meet up with a sponsor. During this time, you will regularly work on the steps that will empower you to deal with your issues from the twelve-step point of view.

Some of the rehabs in Emblem that are based on the 12-steps of addiction recovery may also use other recovery protocols - such as complementary therapeutic practices and one-on-one psychotherapy.

4. Medicine-Based Programs

Pharmacotherapy-based facilities view substance abuse issues as conditions that should be fixed medically - in much the same way you would deal with other diseases such as diabetes.

Because of this, they often write a prescription for such meds as methadone or Suboxone for the management of addiction.

These kinds of alcohol and drug treatment programs are, however, sometimes thought of as harm reducing because they can pass on your addiction from one drug to another. As an example, the Suboxone or methadone may take the place of heroin.

However, there are medications that have been proven of deterring active drug and alcohol abuse. As an example, Antabuse will make an alcoholic ill whenever they take alcohol. Because of this, this type of treatment is productive at handling addiction and reducing harm.

5. Other Programs

Some drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs do not fit into any of the categories we have discussed above. These facilities offer cures that are not founded on any evidence-based treatment methods or protocols.

Alternatively, these rehabs say that they have worked out unique ways of dealing with addiction and substance use disorders. However, they are open to doubt because they might not have proof of success or be able to provide evidence about their theories.

6. Harm-Reduction Based Programs

These are alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs that hold the belief that people suffering from addiction and a variety of substance use disorders are not completely capable of abstinence or that they do not want to stop using drugs and alcohol entirely.

These alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs, instead, go with the belief that addicted people can consume less of the drugs or alcohol. From this perspective, they claim that it is okay to have a glass or so of wine or beer during lunch and will teach the patients how to do this with success. While going through this, you will learn how to control your substance abuse problem while still allowing for some substance use.

Many harm-reduction addiction treatment centers are found away from the reaches of conventional alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs. One good example is a needle exchange plan.

The idea behind these programs is that not every addicted person is ready for or desires guidance. Therefore, they are aimed at attempting to stop the spread of life-threatening diseases such as hepatitis and HIV by providing IV drug users with clean needles free of charge. In doing so, they reduce the risk of disease transmission that occurs from drug abuse, although addicts continue using as they did before the intervention.
